Funding has started to install a defibrillator at Low Road Park

Cardiac arrest can happen to anyone of any age, so it makes perfect sense to try and get a defibrillator at the park. We want all park users and nearby residents to have access to potential life saving equipment as close as possible to the park.

With Auchtermuchty Bellvue Colts growing rapidly since being founded in 2019, it has been a huge logistical task to get players kitted out, purchase equipment, organise matches and all the other logistics which go on behind the scenes.

One thing which has been a glaring omission is a defibrillator machine, which could prove to be a life saving piece of equipment should someone close by suffer a cardiac arrest.

Today we are pleased to launch our Defibrillator Campaign Fund, which will install an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at Low Road Park in Auchtermuchty and help fund training for the community to use it.

On any given night, there could be over 100 people attending football training, from young children to the parents who watch and the adults who coach. Furthermore the park is also used by dog walkers and children playing in the play park. Any one of these people could suffer from cardiac arrest at any time and having access to a defibrillator within the park could be the difference between life and death.

At least 12 young people, between ages 12-35 years, die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions in the UK every week.

In the UK there are over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests every year where emergency medical services attempt to resuscitate the victim. However, the survival rate is low just 1 in 10 people in the UK survive.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest can happen anywhere at any time to anyone. Ensuring more facilities have an AED will help save lives.
